Center for Health Sciences Research (CHSR), FMH recently hosted their Letter to the Editor workshop series 2024, comprising two engaging sessions. The first and introductory online session on September 27th was hosted by CHSR Core Team member Ayesha Saqib, MS2, and the speakers included Core Team members Abdullah Sohail, MS3; Muhammad Ans, MS1; Ahmed Qaiser, MS1; and CHSR Convener Eeman Ahmad, MS4.
The enthusiastic participation by MBBS students across all years demonstrated a growing interest in research among our students. Participants were taught the fundamentals of research with great focus on writing Letters to the Editor.

The online session was followed by an interactive Hands-On LTE Workshop with working groups on 1st October, hosted by the CHSR Core Team. The session was led by CHSR Convener Eeman Ahmad, MS4.
The session featured an engaging presentation paired with hands-on practice of the taught concepts. By the end of the workshop series, participants were divided into working groups to write their own LTEs with guidance from CHSR’s core team.

Center for Health Sciences Research (CHSR), FMH hosted the workshop: “Mastering Citations: Workshop on Reference Managers” on 16th October. This session was designed to help students stay organized with their references as they embark on their research journeys.
Our speaker was Muhammad Nabeel Saddique from King Edward Medical University, an accomplished researcher with 7 publications and over 10 accepted abstracts at national and international conferences.

Center for Health Sciences Research (CHSR), FMH, hosted an online Journal Club session via Zoom on October 20, 2024. The session featured a presentation on a recent study published in The Lancet Regional Health, titled: “The burden of cardiovascular disease in Asia from 2025 to 2050: a forecast analysis for East Asia, South Asia, South-East Asia, Central Asia, and high-income Asia Pacific regions.” The study was presented by CHSR Core Team member Zarhaish Barkatullah, MS3.

Dr. Mariam Tariq Awana, FMHCMD alumna and current internal medicine resident in the U.S.
Zarhaish provided a thorough and insightful summary of the study, highlighting key findings and implications. This was followed by an in-depth discussion led by Dr. Zarrar and Dr. Mariam, who examined the study's findings and their potential impact on healthcare in Asia.
